Products Introduction

Bauxite ore is the world's primary source of Aluminium. It is composed of Hydrated Aluminium Oxide with varying proportion of Iron Oxide, Silica and generally Titania. Main Bauxite ore are Diaspore (α-AlO(OH)), Boehmite (γ-AlO(OH)) and Gibbsite (Al(OH)3). In India, Gibbsite Bauxite occurs as Lamps, Boulders and Pebbles of variegated colours, typically found in various tropical and sub tropical regions of Gujarat.

Valbaux operationally mines 2000 TPD Raw bauxite of various grades from Alumina and cement industries as well as produces 150 TPD Calcine Bauxite. The company holds an ample space to store full year's supply of Raw Bauxite in various Mesh sizes as per the requirement. The processing plant is fully automated and runs on PLC-SCADA system with the supported facility of Quality Assurance & Quality Control with an in-house Laboratory.

Calcined Bauxite is obtained by calcining (heating) superior grade Bauxite at high temperature (from 850 °C to 1600 °C). This removes moisture thereby increasing the alumina content. Compared to an alumina content of about 57 % to 58 % in raw Bauxite, Calcined Bauxite has an alumina content of 84 % to 88 %. The heating is carried out in rotary kilns. We produce Calcined Bauxite for various applications such as Refractory Bricks, Abrasives, Steel Polishing, etc.

Calcined Bauxite is an important raw material for two main markets, Refractories and Abrasives. Smaller volumes are consumed in other applications including Proppants, Welding Fluxes, and Anti-Skid Surfaces. While the process of calcining bauxite for each of these applications is fundamentally the same (ie. it involves the same basic burning process), the physical and chemical characteristics of each grade vary.
